Welcome to Fit and Nourished Life! The purpose of this website is to share things in my life that I have learned about fitness, food, and being a mom and wife.
My name is Virginia, and the first thing to know about me is that I am married to a wonderful man who works hard to provide for his family each and every day. He is in the military and because of that we move quite often. While I love moving around, it does not lend itself well for me to work full time. However, it has challenged me to think outside the box when it comes to my career. Plus, my husband is very supportive of me staying at home to raise our childen.
The second thing to know about me is that I am the proud momma of 2 wonderful children (a 6 year old girl and 3 year old boy). I have been a stay at home mom since our daughter was born. While it has had its ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade these years for anything in the world!
The third thing to know about me is that I love fitness! I am certified through the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) as a group exercise instructor and licensed as a Zumba instructor.
Finally, I am a Registered Dietitian and have a passion for sharing the power of food and nutrition to others in effort to help improve lives. I studied Food and Nutrition at the University of Alabama from 2003 to 2007 and obtained both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in those fields during my time there. During my time in college, I experienced first hand how eating right and regular exercise can change your mental and physical health. Instead of gaining the infamous “Freshman 15,” I lost weight because I was walking several miles to and from class each day, exercising at the student recreation center (where I later taught exercise classes), and majoring in food and nutrition.
I hope to share things on this website like exercise tips, workouts, recipes, diet information, my favorite foods, and parenting hacks/tips. I am excited for you to join me on this platform, and I hope that you enjoy visiting this site and reading my posts.
